Qld: Recount underway in Maryborough

BRISBANE, Feb 27 AAP - A recount is underway in the closely contested Queensland seat
of Maryborough after the Labor candidate's 2,000-vote lead suddenly disappeared.

Labor's Alan Holmes was 2,050 votes in front when first preferences were counted, but
after second, third and fourth preferences were distributed, his lead turned into a 209-vote
deficit.

The distribution of preferences put sitting MP, One Nation-turned-Independent John
Kingston, in front.

Mr Holmes requested a recount yesterday, but it is not expected to be completed until …
