NSW: Bikers do their bit for homeless
More than a hundred blanket-bearing motorbike riders have roared into Sydney's westernsuburbs in a show of support for the nation's homeless.
The bikers showed their softer side as they arrived convoy-style in Parramatta fortoday's launch of Homeless Persons Week.
Anglicare spokesman PETER KHOURY says it's about raising community awareness of thecountry's 105,000 homeless people and to break down the stereotype of fear that surroundsthem.
The secretary of Bikers Australia, LINDA NICASTRI, says the blanket run is a traditionto help those in need.
Similar events to be staged during the week include Mission Australia's Winter Sleepout,with 2,500 girl guides expected to camp overnight in Sydney's Taronga Park Zoo.
